Workers have had to fight for every gain we have ever made in wages, benefits, and working conditions.  Gains have been established when employers have recognized that workers have power.  Workers who collectively join together to form unions are more powerful than individual workers, and unions are most powerful if they have an informed, active, and educated membership.

Mobilization is the strategy used to increase the power of unions by developing an informed and active membership.  CUPE 1883’s Mobilization Committee will be using this website to communicate with members updates on the negotiations, to educate members on the negotiation process, and to show support for our executive.

We need to send a clear message to our employer that we will stand up together and protect what we have and will fight for what is right.  As CUPE 1883 members we need to be prepared by being aware of what is going on, understanding the process, and taking action.

Welcome to the CUPE 1883 Mobilization website.

Brought to you by your Mobilization Committee - By Members for Members
We Need You
We need to come together.
We need to be one voice.
We need to be strong.
We need solidarity.

Update Re: New Collective Agreement

There are 3 steps that need to occur to receive the new collection agreement:

1) Employer completes draft of Collective Agreement and submits it to the union for review

2) The draft Collective Agreement goes back and forth between the union and employer until it's correct

3) The draft Collective Agreement is finalized, and the employer will print the new collective agreement and distribute the hard copies to CUPE 1883 members/staff.

*The union is currently waiting for the employer to submit the draft Collective Agreement for review (waiting for start step 1 above).

Update Re: Important Notice

The CUPE 1883 Executive has been advised by the employer that retro pay will be issued the end of May 2017.
